ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the level of awareness and acceptability on the vision, mission, goals, objectives and core values of the Apayao State College (ASC) among its external stakeholders. The descriptive survey method was used.  Data were collected using a pre-structured questionnaire and were analyzed using mean. Results of the study revealed that all the respondents generally were “very much aware” and “highly accepted” the vision. Most of the respondents are “very much aware” of the mission but residents of the community were “aware”. On the level of acceptability of the institution’s mission, it was “highly accepted” by the respondents except for residents of the community who “moderately accepted”. For the stakeholders’ awareness and acceptability of ASC goals, residents of the community were “aware” and “moderately accepted”. The respondents are “very much aware” and “highly accepted” the ASC Core Values. These findings serve as reference for concerned officials of the College to develop/employ a system of information to keep all external stakeholders as partners in the achievement of the institution’s VMGO.

INTRODUCTION

The Apayao State Colege Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives (VMGO) had been approved by the Board of Trustees (BOT), the highest governing body of ASC on May 2018. The College is committed to provide empowering and holistic development of citizens by providing quality and innovative instruction, strong research, responsive community engagement and entrepreneurship in order to prime the development of Apayao Province and the Cordillera Administrative Region. With the said mission, it envisions to empower lives and communities through stewardship for cultural sensitivity and biodiversity.

With the VMGO in place, a strong foundation has been laid so that everyone will be working towards the realization of the VMGO and its quest of providing quality education to the service area of the College. Accreditation is one is a type of quality assurance process under which services and operations of educational institutions or programs are evaluated. It is a process by which an institution of higher learning like SUC evaluates its educational activities, in whole or in part, and seeks an independent judgment to confirm that it substantially achieves its objectives, and is generally able to deliver quality education.  

The College was visited by accreditors from Association of Accreditors of Chartered Colleges and Universities of the Philippines (AACCUP) to ensure that programs offered by the College were within the standards set by the oversight agencies. The first area of evaluation is the VMGO of the institution. Included in the parameters under Area I is the dissemination and acceptability of the College VMGO.

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the employability, productivity, and attributes of BS Agriculture graduates of Apayao State College Luna Campus. A structured survey questionnaire both disseminated through online platforms and printed forms were given to all BS Agriculture graduates from 2010 to 2019.

The study was participated by 122 graduates out of 235 graduates from 2010 to 2019. Results showed that majority of BS Agriculture graduates are employed, mostly working with national line agencies (NLAs), local government units (LGUs) and private companies found within the province of Apayao. Majority works in line with their field of specialization either as a technical staff, an office staff or field worker.

Majority are still single and earns between PhP8,000-PhP10,000 a month. It is notable however, that there are more graduates who are not licensed agriculturist but they were still hired as workers especially in government offices needing help of agriculture professionals.

As to the usefulness of skills to become competitive in their workplace, graduates noted that all skills to include computer skills, technical skills, critical thinking skills, leadership skills, decision making skills, problem solving skills, entrepreneurial skills, human relations skills, oral and written communication skills are all useful in their work field. As to the sufficiency of their training from ASC, majority keep the score “sufficient.” Graduates are generally “satisfied“ with the training they received from ASC.

As to the graduates attributes, majority stated to be performing as always nurturing to nature, acts as an agent of change, sensitive to the culture around them and can easily adapt to their work areas. Likewise, majority mentioned that they are capable and able to stand on their own, and considers themselves as competent and expert agriculturists in their field.

Graduates were provided with a list of recommendations for the improvement of the BS Agriculture curriculum their first, second and third priority include the following (1) review and update the curriculum and syllabi, (2) to add more major subjects that develops technical skills and research skills, (3) upgrade facilities like laboratories, (4) add more subjects that develop written and oral communication skills.

The review and update of the BS Agriculture curriculum is necessary to meet the demands of the labor force. The BS Agriculture department may consider adding more subjects that develops technical skills like machine operations and honing the research skills of the students.

Moreover, to make them competitive in the workplace, there is a need to still hone their oral and written communication skills although not passing to the board examination is not a hindrance for them to land a job in the government, the department concerned must still improve the passing rate of the Agriculture Department as it may have an implication to the low permanency rate of graduates who are connected in government offices.

ABSTRACT

This study aimed to investigate the level of awareness and acceptability of ASC Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives and Core Values and Bachelor of Elementary Education program Goals and Objectives. A descriptive-survey research method was used wherein the questionnaire was based from the existing VMGO of the institution. Purposive sampling was done since there was just a small number of students, faculty members and alumni in the BEEd department. A 3-point scale was used to determine the awareness and acceptability of the respondents on the different criteria evaluated. Results revealed that the Vision, Mission, Goals, Objectives and Core Values of Apayao State College and the Bachelor of Elementary Education Department Goal and Objectives are highly accepted by the faculty, students and its alumni and the respondents are Very Much Aware of them.

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to assess the conducted bookkeeping training program of the Apayao State College. A descriptive survey method was used to described the profile of the respondents and determine the assessment of the training program as to learner reaction, learning, behavior, results and work efficiency. There were 36 respondents which were participants to the conducted bookkeeping training program for 2019-2020.  Total enumeration was used in determining the respondents.  This study made use of questionnaire which consisted of two (2) parts. Part I deal on the profile and Part 2 on the assessment according to learner reaction, learning, behavior, results and work efficiency.  Frequency and percentage distribution and weighted mean accompanied by Likert Scale  were used.  Findings revealed that learners reaction to the bookkeeping training program was “very good”, the learning was “excellent”, their behavior was also “excellent” and work efficiency was “very good”. It was concluded that the bookkeeping training program was effective. However, there were still areas that need to be enhanced or improved.

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of the computer literacy extension program of the BS Information Technology which aimed to impart technical skills to different stakeholders of Apayao State College in Conner Campus. The respondents consisted of 29 different teachers of secondary and elementary of DepEd, officers of cooperatives and barangay officials of Conner, Apayao. Data were collected through questionnaires on the assessment of computer literacy extension program of the BS Information Technology. The study assessed impact of computer literacy extension programs in different skills: Basic computer operation; Basic Troubleshooting; Internet Literacy; Word Processing using Microsoft Word; Spreadsheet using Microsoft Excel; Presentation using Microsoft Power Point; Image editing using Adobe Photoshop; Video making and editing using Power Director; GSuite Application for Education and Open Educational Resources. Results revealed that computer literacy training program has a great impact to the respondents in their profession and improved the way of living by generating income.
