SDG 16 - PEACE, JUSTICE AND STRONG INSTITUTIONS

Goal 16 of the Sustainable Development Goal encourages inclusive and peaceful societies in order to sustain progress. It also aims to ensure that everyone has access to justice and to create inclusive institutions at all levels. Sustainable development is based on peace, justice, and institutions that are efficient, responsible, and inclusive. In recent decades, peace and security have increased and been preserved in a number of regions. But due to inadequate institutions, lack of access to justice, information, and other essential freedoms, many countries continue to experience protracted armed conflict and violence, and an excessive number of people continue to struggle.

Apayao State College (ASC), as a Higher Education Institution in the country, is committed to contributing to the attainment of SDG 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. The P/A/Ps under this SDG include the following:

Apayao State College has been awarded the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System (QMS) accreditation by the DQS Certification Phils., Inc., Makati City, Metro Manila, and with its main office in Germany on April 14, 2023.

ISO 9001:2015 is a global standard set by the International Organization for Standardization that specifies the requirements for a strong QMS, outlining the processes, procedures, and programs that organizations must develop, implement, maintain, and improve to successfully manage production or service delivery.

The College has been compliant with not only the documentary requirements of the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) but also in ensuring transparency and promoting honesty and responsibility in the College’s service delivery through its Citizen’s Charter and other ARTA-related activities and campaigns.

In support of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Program of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) as a response to the call for transparency and full public disclosure of information, the College has formulated both its Agency and People’s FOI Manual, which was presented to and approved by its Board of Trustees, to provide the process to guide and assist the College as well as the FilipinoCitizens are requesting information under Executive Order (E.O.) No. 2, Series of 2016, on Freedom of Information (FOI). The college has also incorporated and linked the FOI Program to its official website.
