SMART GRANTS DISTRIBUTION PROGRAM and RECOGNITION OF WINNERS IN REGIONAL TESDA SKILLS COMPETITION was recently conducted at Apayao State College- Luna Campus on January 10, 2024. Students together with their parents received one-time fixed grant of twenty-five thousand pesos (25,000).

Student Monetary Assistance for Recovery and Transitioned (SMART) Grant is a program initiated by The District Representative Apayao Lone District Hon. Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang to provide one-time fixed grant of twenty-five thousand pesos (25,000) from the Higher Education Development Fund (HEDF) to qualified students enrolled in any undergraduate program for Academic Year 2023 – 2024 only, as one of the strategies under the National Employment Recovery, which is increasing success of students to graduate through scholarship, despite effects of pandemic.

Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut-Begtang together with the College President Dr. John N. Cabansag, VPARDES – Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, CHED – CAR Officials Mrs. Christine M. Soriano, Mr. Jude U. Ambucay, Mr. Richard Mamanao, Mr. Jay Van B. Basilio, and the Scholarship Coordinator Mr. Philip Constantine L. Mandac spearheaded the Distribution of Financial Assistance to qualified Smart Grantees. Thereupon, the recognition of Winners in Regional TESDA skills competition to the BSIT students and faculty of Apayao State College with the Supervising Technical Education and Development Specialist (TESDA), Mr. Benedicto A. Biato.

The program was also attended by the ASC College Officials, teaching, and non-teaching staff. With the presence of the College and Board Secretary Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao, Campus Academic Dean Dr. Rema Bascos Ocampo, Chief Administrative Officer Mrs. Brendalyn U. Fernando, and many others.

In their messages, Congresswoman Eleanor C. Bulut – Begtang and College President Dr. John N. Cabansag emphasized the relevance of Education. They even shared that “Education is a weapon to improve one’s life. It is probably the most important tool to change one’s life; helps eradicate poverty and hunger, giving people the chance at better lives. Thus, make the best use of your privileges towards achieving your aspirations. Be thankful and proud!”.
