The recent one-day scientific visit of Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum, Jr. and Undersecretary for Regional Operations Engr. Sancho A. Mabborang in Apayao marks a significant impact in strengthening the partnership between Apayao State College and DOST with the continued support of the Provincial Government of Apayao and other stakeholders.

In their much-awaited visit to ASC’s DOST-assisted projects located at the proposed Apayao Technology and Innovation Hub in Payanan, San Gregorio, Luna, Apayao, the Secretary and Undersecretary were warmly welcomed by ASC President John N. Cabansag, College & Campus Officials, and employees with the traditional Isnag dance performed by students. They were joined by Vice-Governor Remy A. Albano, Ms. Marinel Ginez representing Cong. Eleanor Bulut-Begtang, and some key officials of Apayao, DOST-CAR led by Regional Director Nancy A. Bantog, Provincial Science & Technology Director Engr. Debbie Glynn V. Manangkil, DOST-RO2 officials, and other guests.

ASC’s Payanan Site is home to the Complementary Food Production (CFP) Center; Enhanced Nutribun Processing, Sericulture, Natural Textile Fiber Innovation Hub (NTFIH); and the Agrometeorological (Agro-Met) Station.

While Sec. Solidum and the guests were led to each of the facilities, there was a fruitful exchange of information, inquiries, and insights in terms of research innovation and commercialization of technologies to improve the income generation of the College and to further solidify the commitment between partner agencies for the development goals of the Province and the Cordillera Region.

Earlier, President Cabansag was with Sec. Solidum, Usec Mabborang, and key officials to grace the awarding of project funds, MOA signing, and presentation of DOST scholars held at Flora, Apayao. Moreover, a site visit of DOST-SETUP projects located in the municipalities of Flora, Sta. Marcela, and Luna were also attended by the distinguished officials.
