The Office of the Presidential Adviser on Peace, Reconciliation, and Unity (OPAPRU) officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Apayao State College on April 11, formalizing their partnership in advancing peace education.

The signing ceremony was held at the EKB Multipurpose Building, ASC Main Extension- Conner Campus. Representing OPAPRU were Executive Director Andres S. Aguinaldo, Jr. of the Office for Plans and Programs, and Director Rowena T. Lopez of the Policy and Strategy Development and Knowledge Management Service.

Signing on behalf of ASC President John N. Cabansag were Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research Development and Extension Services, and Jemmarie S. Kotoken, Vice President for Administration and Finance Services.

This was followed by a peace education learning exchange and reflection session with students and faculty from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology program and other ASC employees.

Witnessed by college & campus officials, faculty, and the OPAPRU delegation, the event also marked ASC’s official launch as the 9th partner institution of OPAPRU nationwide. A highlight of the event was the inauguration of the OPAPRU Nook, a dedicated space for peace education resources, located at the College Library in the DLJT Building.

The event also featured student competitions in essay writing, extemporaneous speaking, demo teaching, and digital poster making, culminating in awarding winners and a ceremonial peace education commitment signing.

The activity was jointly facilitated by OPAPRU and the ASC International Affairs and Linkages Office, headed by Dr. Philip L. Mandac. Distinguished guests included PCPT Thomas B. Cayomba, Jr., Acting Chief of Police of PNP Conner, personnel from PNP Conner, and Dr. Cameron P. Odsey, former member of the ASC Board of Trustees.
