Addressing gender rights and safety, the Gender and Development Office raised awareness of gender inequality and violence through a Men Opposed to Violence Against Women (MOVE) orientation as part of the 18-day campaign to combat Violence Against Women (VAW).
Introduced by Instructor Arlene Joy T. Llantada, Trade Industry Analyst Reynie S. Tactac from the Department of Trade & Industry-Apayao served as the resource speaker. He discussed the benefits and role of joining the MOVE organization, encouraging attendees to become part of the movement and contribute to broader societal change.
Dr. Rey Carl V. Arimas, GAD Focal Person, emphasized the role of MOVE Officers, stating, “MOVE officers will be instrumental in raising awareness about the prevalence of violence, challenging harmful stereotypes and behaviors, and advocating for gender equality.”
Following the discussion, participants pledged their commitment to the “VOW to End VAW.” Assistant Professor Kriselle Donna A. Baletbet, a member of the GFPS Secretariat Committee, highlighted the importance of collective engagement, noting, “Violence against women is not just a woman’s issue; it is a societal issue that requires the participation and vigilance of all.”
The event concluded with a photo session at the Orange Photobooth, where all participants, both male and female employees, had the opportunity to reflect on the significance of unity.
“Ending violence is not a campaign; it is a daily commitment. Each of us has a role to play. Whether it is by speaking out, offering support, or challenging harmful behaviors, we can all contribute to a world where no one lives in fear,” said Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, Academic Dean.
The event was held at RDE Building, ASC-Luna Campus on December 12.
