The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), represented by the Apayao State College-Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT-Luna Campus) secured Silver Medal and a cash prize of ₱20,000 in the just-concluded 2024 Philippine National Skills Competition (PNSC), held from August 22-24, 2024, at the World Trade Center, Pasay City.

Competing in the Cybersecurity Category, the team garnered 700 points, demonstrating exceptional skills and talents that covered two critical tasks– Penetration Testing and Forensic Investigation.

Each task required a unique set of skills and expertise to ensure a thorough and precise execution.

Penetration Testing |

Expert: Dan Erick A. Mapa

Assistant Expert: Lloyd Mark C. Razalan

Competitor: Mark John D. Marcos

The Penetration Testing task focused on identifying vulnerabilities in a simulated network environment. Under the guidance of Expert Mapa and Asst. Expert Razalan, Marcos skillfully navigated through intricate security challenges, showcasing the team’s strong understanding of cybersecurity principles.

Forensic Investigation |

Expert: Wreyloyd Q. Manzano

Assistant Expert: Darwin G. Raralio

Competitor: Nikko Paolo Rabaja

The Forensic Investigation task required meticulous analysis of digital evidence to uncover security breaches and malicious activities. Rabaja demonstrated exceptional forensic skills, ensuring that all findings were accurate and reliable, led by Expert Manzano and Asst. Expert Raralio.

Notably, the Cordillera Region is among the Top 10 Best Regions announced during the awarding ceremony yesterday, August 25, including Region XI (Champion), NCR (1st Runner-Up), Region IV-A (2nd Runner-Up), Regions I, II, III, IV-B, V, and IX.

The 2024 PNSC is part of the 30th anniversary celebration of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) participated in by nearly 200 competitors from 17 regions across the country who competed in 25 other skill areas such as Information Network Cabling, Information Technology (IT) Network Systems Administration, IT Software Solutions for Business, Web Technologies, Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Maintenance, Electronics, Carpentry, Mechatronics, Welding, Cabinet Making and Cooking.
