From just being a traditional repository of books to a dynamic hub of information and learning, the automation of library services is seen to play a vital role in achieving the development goals of Apayao State College.
The three-day start-up training for the Library Management System (LMS) of ASC Library Services in Conner Campus commences today, February 27, with the active participation of the College Librarian Dr. Mary Jane D. Maslang, Engr. Elias D. Edan, BSIT Chairman, Warner P. Follo, Information System Analyst, four library staff, and a BSIT staff. This is facilitated by Jayson T. Manzano, the technical support specialist of Electronic Information Solutions, Inc.
Crucial to the automation of library processes that the College has targeted to fully implement this year, the training equips the participants with the necessary knowledge, skills, and support mechanisms that maximize the benefits of the LMS to better serve its targeted clientele—the students and faculty. The system automates core library functions such as cataloging, circulation, acquisitions, and serials management, among others.
Meanwhile, the campus library in Luna had earlier undergone a retraining session on the Library System via Zoom with Cross-platform I.T. Services through its Managing Director Edwin C. Adversario on January 30 this year aimed at empowering library staff with the tools required to proficiently operate the automated system.
