Apayao State College (ASC) has been making significant revisions to its student handbook to better address the evolving needs of students and faculty. The Office of Student Affairs and Services (OSAS) conducted a three-day workshop from July 16-18 at the Conference Hall, RDE Building, ASC-Luna Campus, to review and update the handbook.
Key areas targeted for revision included the admission and enrollment policies, class attendance, student academic load, grading system, school fees, and uniform guidelines. The workshop was led by the directors of OSAS from both college campuses, Ms. Evelyn Alvarez and Ms. Madelyne T. Maslang. They incorporated constructive recommendations from various stakeholders, including the registrar, program chairs, health unit representatives, and the college librarian.
The revision process began in December 2018 under the current SAS directors. After five years of ongoing efforts, the recent workshop brought together student leaders and advisers to deliberate on the proposed changes. Their collective insights aim to enhance the overall student experience and ensure the handbook remains relevant and effective.
Director Maslang mentioned that the updated handbook will be presented to college officials, students, alumni, and parents before submission to the Academic and Administrative Councils for their approval and endorsement to the Board of Trustees for final action.
