Pursuing improved gender mainstreaming in programs and projects, the Gender and Development (GAD) Office of Apayao State College (ASC) conducted Session 4 of its capacity-building series, titled “Driving Successful Projects: A Hands-On PIMME Training for Effective Delivery,” held on May 6–8 at ASC-Luna Campus Conference Hall.
The three-day training workshop focused on the application of the Harmonized Gender and Development Guidelines (HGDG), particularly Boxes 16 and 17, to strengthen the technical capabilities of the GAD Focal Point System (GFPS) members and project implementers. These tools are integral to the Project Implementation, Management, and Monitoring & Evaluation (PIMME) process.
For his part, Dr. Rey Carl V. Arimas, GAD Focal Person, highlighted the session’s objective of institutionalizing inclusive development within ASC’s strategic and operational processes. “This technical work is expected to provide a replicable framework for assessing the delivery and outcomes of GAD-attributed initiatives,” he added.
Introduced by For. Hannie T. Martin, the training featured Dr. Ferdinand P. Gonzales as the resource speaker.
Dr. Gonzales underscored PIMME’s role in project implementation, recommending a GAD recognition program to reinforce institutional practices. He also reviewed participants’ previous engagements with GAD-related activities and outlined upcoming GAD initiatives.
The session included a review of key GAD and project management concepts, followed by a writeshop that guided participants through PIMME Box 16 and Box 17.
Among the attendees were participants from the Infrastructure and Development Office, Bamboo Industry Development, and the ICT Office.
They pitched their proposed projects to a panel composed of Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research, Development, and Extension Services; Joyce P. Hidalgo, Director of Finance; Brendalyn U. Fernando, Chief Administrative Officer; Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, Luna Campus Academic Dean; Shiery Galla, Internal Auditor; and Dr. Gonzales.
“Let us go far — together in our shared mission to institutionalize GAD in meaningful and measurable ways,” Dr. Bascos-Ocampo said.
ASC President Dr. John N. Cabansag expressed his support for the endeavor, stating, “Together, let us champion GAD efforts, institutionalize best practices through PIMME, and contribute to building a more equitable and inclusive Apayao State College for all.”
