To bolster holistic well-being, Apayao State College – Bachelor of Physical Education (BPED) participated in a three-day training workshop on Physical Activity towards Health and Fitness (PATHFit) that runs from February 21-23, 2024, held at ASC Luna Campus.
Themed, “Cultivating a Harmonious Mind and Body,” the workshop featured instructional practices of Physical Education such as proper demonstration of certain exercises and physical activities.
Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo delivered her welcome remarks. “The knowledge and experiences you gain will not only enrich your academic journey but will also equip you with the tools necessary to make a meaningful impact in the field of Physical Education and reality,” she marked.
Meanwhile, ASC President Dr. John Cabansag, encouraged the BPED students to be more active in interacting with the PE trainers and asked questions or internal concepts without hesitation.
“PATHFit training dictates physical education teachers with the tools to promote health, fitness, and active learning among students and teachers while emphasizing practical exercises and a growth mindset. PATHFit contributes to holistic well-being,” he summarized.
The resource speakers are Dr. Marlon S. Tabdi, Mr. Ryan B. Batinay, Mr. Jandy U. Gay-as, and Mr. Kalvin Jake P. Awas of Benguet University will be navigating throughout the workshop. They were acknowledged by Dr. Marlon S. Tabdi of the same university.
Specifically, Dr. Tabdi is the college dean while Mr. Awas is a sports coordinator and fitness coordinator under the Center of Sports, Recreational, and Wellness Development (CSRWD). Likewise, Mr. Jandy U. Gay-as is a sports coordinator and fitness coordinator under the same umbrella. Mr. Ryan Batinay is an associate dean, college secretary, and national coach of Vovinam, a Vietnamese martial art.
Active participants are some 70 BPED students and seven instructors from ASC – Luna and Conner campuses namely Marfred T. Sanchez, Diether John S. Ballinan, Jaylord Q. Guillermo, Marlyn Marcos, Judel B. Tabason, Lea B. Bayaua, and Cherry R. Enriquez.
The topics covered on the first day after the opening program yesterday were “physical fitness, locomotor, and non-locomotor skills.”
The participants with the guidance of health trainers executed well the mentioned activities which took place at EKB Auditorium, RDE Building, ASC Luna Campus.
Today, February 22, indicates the continuation of the training workshop and tomorrow will conclude its fruitful venture.
