Apayao State College has achieved another significant milestone by earning a prestigious 1-star award certificate for its outstanding efforts in empowering students in partnership with the Global Reskilling Movement (GRM) Program through the ReSkills platform.
Given by the GRM, the award underscores ASC’s commitment to providing excellence in quality education and its proactive approach to addressing the evolving needs of the global workforce that strongly supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) #4 (quality education), #8 (decent work and economic growth), and #17 (partnerships for the goals).
Facilitated by the ASC-International Affairs and Linkages (IAL) Office, this achievement also marks initial internationalization efforts, as it seeks to collaborate with global partners and integrate international perspectives into ASC’s educational framework that sets a benchmark for others to follow.
From May to June 2024, 100 ASCians have been empowered along with other college students across the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR resulting in the issuance of 300 ReSkills e-certificates.

The success of this initiative was made possible through ASC’s strong partnerships and collaborations, highlighted by its recent participation in the Cordillera NEXUS, initiated by CHED-CAR and hosted by the University of the Cordilleras.
The event convened 17 higher education institutions (HEIs) from the region, including Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology, Baguio Central University, Benguet State University, Cordillera Career Development College, Ifugao State University, Kalinga State University, King’s College of the Philippines, Mountain Province State Polytechnic College, Saint Louis University, St. Louis College of Bulanao, University of Baguio, University of the Cordilleras, Cordillera A+ Computer Technology, Pines City Colleges, Easter Colleges, Star Colleges, and Apayao State College.
During the Cordillera NEXUS, CD Lee, Head of Program for the Global Reskilling Movement at ReSkills Malaysia, shared insights into their institution’s operations and the benefits available to students and faculty through their programs. The meeting concluded with the Presidents of the participating HEIs signing a commitment agreement with ReSkills Malaysia. CD Lee provided 1,700 sponsored vouchers to the 17 participating institutions, allowing access to online classes.
What Global Reskilling Movement (GRM) Program is all about
The Global Reskilling Movement (GRM) is an initiative dedicated to empowering individuals worldwide by providing free access to education and helping them develop the necessary skills to thrive in a rapidly changing job market. Recognizing the impact of technological advancements, automation, and other factors on the nature of work, GRM emphasizes the importance of continuous skill acquisition for workers to remain competitive.
GRM operates in partnership with the Future Ready Education Alliance – ReSkills, an online platform aimed at equipping students with essential skills and knowledge that prepare them for the complexities of the modern workforce. In addition, unemployed individuals, at-risk workers, underprivileged individuals, and those in rural areas are also given free access. By engaging in this platform, competencies of students are not only enhanced but also making a remarkable contribution to the College’s mission of cultivating an environment of continuous learning and development. The one-year free subscription to ReSkills offers 365 days of high-quality live classes and the opportunity to earn a micro-certificate upon passing the relevant tests.
