In a momentous event, the 4th-year students of the BS Hospitality Management program recently marked a significant milestone in their academic journey with the successful conclusion of the 2nd Pinning, Candle Lighting, and Coating Ceremony, accompanied by an enlightening pre-practicum seminar on February 06, 2024 held at EKB Gymnasium (Cubet Site) in ASC Conner Campus.
The ceremony commenced with the Coating Ceremony, a tangible symbol of preparedness that marked the students’ transition from the academic to the professional realm. Clad in their coats, the students are now equipped to face the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in their hospitality careers.
Following the Coating Ceremony, the Pinning ceremony took place, where each student received the emblem – a badge of honor representing their commitment to excellence in the dynamic field of hospitality. This heartfelt moment showcased the dedication and hard work put in by these aspiring professionals.
The symbolic Candle Lighting was a ritual signifying the passage of knowledge and wisdom. Each flickering flame represented the individual journeys of students, now ready to embark on a path of professional growth within the hospitality industry.
Meanwhile, the 2nd-year BS Tourism Management students also had their pinning ceremony, signifying their commitment to hone their knowledge, skills, and attitude as they are now prepared for practical immersions and actual experiential learning activities in different sectors of the tourism industry.
The celebration extended beyond symbolic gestures with a comprehensive pre-practicum seminar. Industry experts and seasoned professionals shared invaluable insights, ensuring that the graduates are well-prepared for the real-world scenarios they will encounter during their upcoming internship. PCpl. Jenny Aswigue-Tingalon, WCFD PNCO of Conner Municipal Police Station, discussed the topic of Anti-Sexual Harassment in the Workplace and Safe Spaces Act. Dr. Jaybee B. Omaweng presented her insights on Workplace Etiquette, while Dr. Leandro B. Alla discussed the Revised Guidelines for Student Internships in the Philippines and the Internship Policies and Guidelines.
The ceremony was attended by the Campus Academic Dean, Dr. Randy A. Cabilatazan, faculty members of the BSHM and BSTM programs, parents, guests, and visitors.
