In preparation for the upcoming 99th Regular Meeting of the Apayao State College (ASC) Board of Trustees, key academic, financial, and administrative proposals were endorsed for approval during the Board Committee Meetings on Academics and Finance held on June 10–11 at Benguet State University, La Trinidad, Benguet.
The Board Committee on Academics, chaired by Atty. Septon A. De la Cruz, Regional Director of CHED-CAR and ASC BOT Chairperson, endorsed the following for Board approval:
- List of candidates for graduation for SY 2024–2025, including 80 graduate school students, 662 undergraduates, and 109 Senior High School students;
- List of academic awardees: 8 Latin honor recipients and 14 special citation awardees from the undergraduate level, and 77 awardees from the Senior High School level;
- Proposed Academic Calendar for AY 2025–2026;
- Proposed amendments to the comprehensive examination fees for the graduate program;
- Proposed honoraria for dissertation panel members;
- Proposed amendments to the Student Handbook; and
- Revised curriculum for the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, major in Crop Science and Animal Science.
Meanwhile, the Board Committee on Finance, chaired by Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan, Regional Director of DA-CAR, also endorsed the following proposals for Board consideration:
- Free Higher Education (FHE) billing based on actual enrollment for the 2nd Semester of AY 2024–2025;
- Proposed modification in budget allotments for FY 2025; and
- Proposed abolition of five (5) existing faculty plantilla positions to create seven (7) new Instructor I positions
- Other matters: Request to authorize the College President to enter into a Memorandum of Agreement with host establishments in the locality for the On-the-Job training of BSA students
The committee meetings were attended by key officials, namely BOT Chairperson, Atty. Septon A. De la Cruz; Finance Committee Chairperson, Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan; Vice-Chairperson, Dr. John N. Cabansag; Faculty Trustee, Dr. Jaybee B. Omaweng; Student Trustee, Mark Angelo Marcos; Private Sector Representatives Mr. Richard D. Pascua and Dr. Juana S. Angagan; and College and Board Secretary Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao.
Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academics, Research Development, and Extension Services, and Jemmarie S. Kotoken, Vice President for Administration and Finance Services, served as resource persons on June 10 and 11, respectively.
