The indivisible commitment to leadership roles implies architectural decisions toward connected contributions. Student leaders from each department and specialized organizations participated in the Campus Wide Convergence Leadership 2024, initiated by the Supreme Student Council of ASC, Luna Campus, on April 4-5.
Ms. Claudine M. Caluducan, RPm, Health Program Officer I, discussed mental health and well-being. Dr. Marvelyn D. Ignacio, Assistant Professor III, integrated the core of ethical leadership, while Ms. Joan-Ana J. Dumalsin, MLGOO of Luna, focused on ethical conduct under good governance.
In addition to absorbing informative awareness from the said resource speakers, a team-building activity was conducted at the Lussok Cave located at Dagupan, Luna in the province of Apayao.
“Aligned with the theme, Panagbubulun, an Isnag term that means panagkakadwa, our main goal is to foster unity and build trust among the student leaders of our institution to create an impact,” Christian Jay Z. Manzano, SSC President, expressed the objective of team-building activity.
Supplementing shared functions of diverse organizations, “as student-leaders of our institution, working together towards a common goal can develop trust in each other, which is crucial for a well-functioning team. Engaging in such team-building activities can also help identify potential student leaders by revealing who takes initiative, who has good decision-making skills, and who can motivate others. Also, fun and engaging activities can help boost team morale, leading to increased productivity and job satisfaction of our student leaders,” he added.
Likewise, Emerson Quinto-Agustin Peralta, GURO President, stated his thoughts on what a true leader should be. “My greatest takeaway from the two-day convergence leadership was the opportunity for self-reflection as various topics were discussed. This allowed me to identify my shortcomings as a leader, providing me with a valuable platform for personal growth and the development of effective leadership skills. A significant takeaway was the realization that merely holding a position doesn’t automatically make you a leader. Leadership requires more than just a title; it involves qualities such as vision, influence, and the ability to inspire others and make an impact and change the world”, he said.
“This training program has been carefully designed to provide you with a comprehensive understanding of leadership and its various aspects. From communication and teamwork to problem-solving and decision-making, this program will guide you towards becoming effective and ethical leaders,” Dr. Gem Micah S. Morales, SSC Adviser, mentioned in her opening remarks.
Dr. Rema Bascos-Ocampo, Campus Academic Dean, reminded the student leaders that their “actions today shape the leaders of tomorrow and contribute to a brighter, more inclusive future.” Ms. Kathreeza Castillo, Guidance Counselor, also noted that they “let their actions speak volumes.”
Meanwhile, the student handbook, specifically in chapter 18 (Student Discipline and Code of Conduct) was looked into for further review.
