First-year students and transferees of Apayao State College-Luna Campus under the BSF, BSA, BSABE, BSEd, BEEd, BTVTEd, BPEd, BSBA, BSIT, and BSHM gathered from August 20-22 at the EKB, Sr. Auditorium for a comprehensive orientation program, kicking off their academic journey.

The event started with an engaging introduction to the College’s rich history, mission, vision, and core values, presented by Ms. Luningning Aribbay (Quality Assurance Director), Ms. Sonia Belarde (Radyo Kasaranay Station Manager) , and Mr. Raymond Garcia (BSED-Program Chair). Teaching and Non-Teaching personnel were also introduced by Ms. Herminia Danao (HRMO III) and Ms. Evelyn Alvarez (Student Affairs & Services Director), setting the tone for a supportive environment.

💡 Key sessions included:

• Student Code of Conduct: Director Evelyn Alvarez explained the rules and disciplinary procedures.

• Health & Wellness: College Nurse Ms. Eunice Aloag covered topics like dengue awareness, reproductive health, and mental health.

•Guidance and Counselling: Ms. Kathreeza Castillo, Guidance Counselor & Justinne Guillermo focused on advocating a caring environment that promote student well-being through the WAHI Corner.

•Scholarships & FAQs: Dr. Philip Mandac, the College Registrar, and Ms. Milky Grace Dulce guided students on certifications, course changes, and scholarship opportunities.

Expert speakers Dr. David Rodolfo (BS Forestry faculty / Pollution Control Officer-Luna) discussed RA 9003 (Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000), Dr. Rey Carl Arimas (GAD Focal Person), provided crucial insights on RA 11313: Safe Space Act (Bawal Bastos Law) and RA 7877: The Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, and the development of gender-inclusive schools, and Dr. Mandac delved on Creating a Safe Space: Intervention for Bullying and Mental Well-being.

The Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Unit also motivated students to get involved and “make a difference”, and Christian Manzano, the President of the Supreme Student Council, inspired his fellow students to develop leadership skills. Dr. Rema-Bascos Ocampo, the Campus Academic Dean, emphasized that this orientation is the first step in their ASC journey. Director Evelyn Alvarez expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the receptiveness and collaboration throughout the 3-day activity.
