Having been dedicated and committed to the pursuit of excellence in the field of research, the Apayao State College conducted its 2023 R&D In-House Review. This two-day activity was held last October 4-5, 2023, at the 4th Floor, EKB Hall, ASC Luna Campus’ RDE Building.

The activity aimed to evaluate research proposals for possible funding; evaluate completed research reports and disseminate research outputs; recognize best research proposals and terminal reports; and assess the progress of on-going research.

The research proposals and completed research reports addressed the various research thrusts and priorities of the college, namely:  teaching and learning initiatives, health and disease management, environmental sustainability, and poverty alleviation. There were 49 research papers presented which showcased the ingenuity and innovativeness of ASC researchers.

The Academic Dean of Luna Campus, Dr. Rema B. Ocampo, gave the welcome address, and RDE Director, Dr. Maria Christina Z. Manicad presented the rationale.

Dr. John N. Cabansag delivered his message and emphasized the importance of implementing RDE projects that lead to utilization. He challenged researchers and extensionists to implement projects that do not just end in terminal reports or publications. Instead, RDE projects must promote positive changes in communities and an upliftment of people’s lives.

A pool of external experts was invited to help in the evaluation and assessment of research proposals and completed research reports. All RDE faculty researchers were allotted time to present their papers. After which, they answered questions and listened to the insights of the evaluators. The comments are expected to improve the implementation of the project for the ensuing months. The best research proposals and completed research were recognized and awarded. The evaluators were Dr. Janet P. Pablo, BSU, Dr. Teresita K. Mangili, BSU, Dr. Robert Rodolfo, KSU (AANR Category); Dr. Joefrey M. Almazan, SLU and Dr. Rico C. Jacoba, SLU (Socio-Cultural Category); Dr. Mariano D. Marchan, Jr., CHED- CAR, Dr. Karen Razelle M.
