Apayao State College in a significant collaboration with the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) “You Can Be Your Own Boss” Training Workshop under the Project Mobilizing Available Resources through Inclusive Training on Entrepreneurship of Student-Grantees (MARITES), where 16 out of 20 participants presented their business proposals during the Provincial Business Pitching Competition on July 26 at the Conference Hall, ASC-Luna Campus.

Mr. Stephen Andres, a first-year student of BSA at Saint Louis University-Baguio, secured first place with his business pitch titled, “Garden Brew Café.” Ms. Jessica B. Vidad, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration graduate at Apayao State College, landed second place with her business pitch titled “C-Bites Delights.” Ms. Christine Jewel D. Ayala, a third-year student of BS in Agribusiness at Mariano Marcos State University, won third place with her business pitch titled “Aqua-Crisps Jewelicious.” Each winner will receive 7,000 pesos worth of livelihood kits.

Packaged with engaging lectures on entrepreneurship and in-between activities, participants encapsulated their prior knowledge, attributing management of business plans to operations. This was carried out by the Department of Trade and Industry-Apayao on July 23-26.

In his remarks, Dr. John N. Cabansag, the College President, said that the youth will be the agents of the community.

Meanwhile, Royce Agasen, an incoming fourth-year student of BSBA at ASC, expressed that the training workshop restored his entrepreneurship spirit. He also added that his takeaway was learning the process of presenting a proposal. Likewise, Jennie Rose Alauig, a graduate of BSBA at ASC, mentioned her takeaways on managing a business, handling customers, and using budget wisely. “Ever since I was a child, I wanted to become a businesswoman to help my family.”

Project MARITES is a CHED-CAR, DTI-CAR, and Apayao State College partnership. In action, Engr. Wena M. Buston, Provincial Director; Marsha Pasong, Trade-Industry Development Specialist; Mariel Kate Gannawa, Trade-Industry Development Analyst; and Jessa Andres, Business Counselor of DTI Apayao facilitated the training workshop alongside Dr. Philip Constantine L. Mandac, Tertiary Education Subsidy (TES) Focal Person, Milky Grace B. Dulce, Project MARITES Focal Person; and Janice S. Ulita, Secretariat.
