In a fitting ceremony that marks new beginnings, the Apayao State College-Luna Campus graduating class of 2024 celebrated their achievements at the ASC 27th Commencement Exercises held at the BGV Jr. Memorial Sports Center in Poblacion, Luna, Apayao on July 11.

Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao, the College and Board of Trustees (BOT) Secretary, read the BOT Resolution No. 02 series of 2024 via referendum–the approval of the conferment and confirmation of the degrees and titles of the 483 candidates of graduation for the SY 2023-2024 followed by the imposition of hoods and caps led by President John N. Cabansag and College Officials.

Police Captain Shiela Joy N. Fronda, the Deputy Provincial Community Affairs and Development Unit (PCADU) Chief Public Information Officer of the Cagayan Provincial Police Office, served as the commencement speaker. She was introduced by Dr. Ronald O. Ocampo, Vice President for Academic, Research, and Development Services.

The theme for this year’s ceremony was “Calibrating Academic Excellence and Invigorating Agility, Sustainability, and Commitment for Social Transformation.”

Reflecting on her journey, Captain Fronda emphasized resilience and adaptability in overcoming challenges which served as tools in the game of survival.

“Life is unpredictable, but maintaining resilience has been my lifeline…Failure to adapt swiftly may result in being left behind by your peers to secure a stable career while you struggle to find direction,” she remarked.

Shory Ann M. Viernes, a Cum Laude graduate with a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Mathematics, shared her inspiring academic journey. In her speech, she recounted the challenges she faced while maintaining her academic excellence. “Let’s not lose sight of our ultimate goal, which is to graduate. Whether your grades make you want to celebrate or hide away, remember that the efforts you invested and how you recognize and appreciate them are what truly count,” she remarked.

Viernes received the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) UniFAST Academic Excellence awarded by Dr. Demetrio P. Anduyan, Jr., the Regional Director of CHED-CAR.
