ASC'S 4th Presidential Investiture
a new era of commitment and hope
More than just a formal installation, the investiture of Nelia Z. Cauilan on May 25, 2018 ushered in a new era of commitment and hope in the College's history.
A thanksgiving mass officiated by Fr. Hugo Jose Reyes Aggabao started the investiture ceremony which was held at the RDE Auditorium in Luna Campus. This was then followed by the academic processional.
Distinguished guest from other State Universities and College (SUCs) in the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) and Cagayan, Local and Provincial government officials, ASC officials & employees, students, alumnae, local community, friends, and family witnessed the unfolding moments as the 4th President was invested.
Salutations were delivered by Cagayan State University (CSU) President Dr. Urdujah A. Tejada and President Jose Feliciano G. Calora on behalf of Benguet State University (BSU) and the Cordillera Administrative Region Association of State Universities and Colleges (CARASUC).
President Tejada recounted how she became instrumental in pushing President Cauilan to file her application for the ASC presidency, even if it meant losing one of the pillars of the University. She commended her for the collaborative leadership she displayed during her term as VP for Research Development and Extension (RDE), the designation she last held for nearly a year at CSU.
"She has the potential of a great leader possessing vision, strength of character,charisma, and willingness to offer her selfless dedication and commitment to higher education," Dr. Tejada expressed.
President Calora shared his pieces of advice to President Cauilan's journey throughout her stint.
" You will be experiencing interesting and exciting challenges uniquely tailored for you."
He stressed the importance of charting ahead quality research and instruction,investment and support in capacity building, linkages, and leading by example.
VP for Academic Affairs and Board Secretary Dr. Nobleza C. Sadao read the Appointment of Dr. Cauilan as ASC President by virtue of ASC BOT resolution No. 03-15 Seies of 2017. The Appointment was signed by the CHED Commissioner Hon. Patricia B. Licuanan on October 23,2017 in Quezon City.
The ceremony went on with the presentation of the symbolic elements of the investiture ceremony: the College Medallion, the College Mace and the College Flag.
The Oath of Office of the College President and the Vesting of Academic Gown and Hood was administered by CHED Commissioner and Chairperson of ASC Board of Trustees (BOT) Hon. Lilian A. De Las Llagas.
In her investiture address, President Cauilan thanked everyone present for the generous welcome and in return offered heartfelt congratulations and expressed her overwhelming joy.
"When the heart is full, the mouth is speechless," recalling a time honored adage.
She presented her vision, mission and strategic goals and humbly admitted that ASC's dream of a greater higher education institution will not be realized without the full support and commitment of the academe, students, parents, local officials, and stakeholders.
Members of the ASC-BOTs namely Faculty Trustee Hon. Brent C. Begay, Student Trustees Hon. Orencia B. Tai-pew,and Private Sector Representative Nicanor Gasatan presented the bouquet as a symbol of acceptance and the token as an insignia to the readiness of the College to adopt the President as a daughter of Apayao.
The ceremony formally ended with benediction followed by the ASC Hymn and Recessional.
