The Apayao State College is the only higher learning institution in the Province, with two campuses located at Conner and Luna, Apayao. It envisions to become a recognized quality higher education institution in the far north that is responsive to rural development.
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is structured to meet the needs of the country in terms of IT experts with capability. Its curriculum is designed in line with the VMGO of the college, to have HEI’s produce competent graduates that shall cater to the needs of the IT industry. Likewise, it provides an opportunity for the students to train their skills, innovative and creativity in the operation of any computer applications and in designing systems & development that can contribute not only to the community in the province of Apayao but also to the country as a whole. .
BRIEF HISTORY OF ACCREDITATION FOR THE BSIT PROGRAM
The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology program was offered in 2006 with its 1st batch of graduates in 2010. The department however, only submitting its program for accreditation in the Preliminary Survey Visit last September 3-6, 2013. With this, the program obtained an average rating of 3.61, passed and applied for an accelerated visit thus, the next visit for level 1 was scheduled on September 29 to October 3, 2014. The college management for 2012-2013 used the old VMGO crafted before 2012 as a guide in upgrading the programs of the College for which to include the Information Technology department. A transition however, was then set in a place where to make the direction for the College to work for its upgrading and recognition as quality HEI thus, the transition vision, mission, goals and objectives to wit which resulted to the preliminary survey visit of nine (9) programs, IT department included and other five (5) programs for the next higher level of accreditation.

The level of quality and excellence in higher education is indicated by the measures of faculty and personnel qualifications thru enduring capacity building; upgrade the students’ performance in the NC II assessment, and raising the accreditation status of educational programs.
2. Relevance and Responsiveness Help and assist in the review or revise program curricula based on latest CHED CMOs to make as technology, market and globally responsive and relevant; increase partnership and network programs; and keep continuing in the workshops on the ladderization of the program.
3. Access and Equity Provide opportunities for affordable quality higher education programs and services to qualified and deserving students. Promote student academic development and self - confidence through industry immersion within and outside the country. Enhance students’ skills and potentials through actual IT training and application.
4. Efficiency and Effectiveness Maximize the potentials of qualified faculty in order to improve morale, initiatives and creativity for greater contributions to the development and progress of the College. Strengthen complementation among the different department and units in the Institution. Improve the information and data system for individual students in the department. Develop operational and management control system in students record keeping. Broaden and empower faculty for greater responsibilities towards the attainment of academic goals and objectives of the college. Be part in transforming partner communities into better lives through research and extension. Identify an income generating- project/activity related to the department’s expertise.
5. Strengthen its Linkage at the Local, National and International Level Broaden and continuing linkages in the local, national and international levels for both public and private sectors and NGO’s. By sustaining job satisfaction, commitment and dedication of faculty; create working environment for every faculty to inspire and challenge the professional capabilities and develop a workable incentive mechanism for high performing faculty.
